Montblanc's other annual release is the Patron of Art series, pens that honour notable individuals who were known to be, well, patrons of the arts!
The Patron of Art Charlemagne, 2000's release, pays tribute to the great cultural visionary of the first millennium.
The barrel and cap of this 4810 edition are made of 925 sterling silver, and the twisted finish is really something. The detailed gold-plated mountings are reminiscent of Carolingian features in the decoration of Aachen Cathedral, where Charlemagne was crowned, and the 18kt gold nib features both an early Medieval engraved pattern, and Charlemagne's monogram. It's one of the prettiest nibs Montblanc has designed!
