I am very retired, in my mid 70s and have only rediscovered fountain pens late last year having turned a number of pens as Christmas stocking fillers last year (I am a craft woodturner).
I was taught to write with a dip pen and at school, from primary through to University we were only allowed to use fountain pens.
I travel a lot and spend a lot of time on my narrowboat, cruising the wonderful Kennet and Avon canal
